Harjit Brar Memorial Tournament U-14 Gold CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the CRS boy's in winning their 3rd straight tournament! Here is how the tournamnet unfolded for the lads:

Game 1
Vs Pacific Eagles
The boys were on the offensive in the first half and pulled away with a 2 goal lead into halftime. With the lead, a different type of CRS team came out for the second half with a lackluster performance. Thankfully the 2 goals in the first half were enough to get the the win on the first day.
Won 2-0

Game 2
Vs Abbottsford United
Knowing the 2nf half display of the game against Pacific Eagles was not acceptable, the boy's went about what they do best, pass and move football. A comprensive victory was assured by the team.
Won 4-0

Game 3
Vs BC Tigers
The boys had beaten the BC Tigers twice already this summer and expected a tough game. They went into the lead after 4 minutes and looked comfortable until a poor freekick was given away and converted. The boys stuck to the game plan and managed to win a penalty kick before half time which was missed. Going into halftime at 1-1 the CRS boys came out guns blazing to comfortably win the game by adding a further 2 goals in the second half.
Won 3-1

KDS Tournament U-14 Gold CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the CRS team for defending there KDS title successfully! Here is how the tournament unfolded for the boys:

Game 1
Vs BC Tigers
The game was played early in the morning after a rainfall with a bumpy pitch. With the terrible conditions the boys managed to take the lead and secure the victory however a bounty of chances were missed in this performance.
Won 2-1

Game 2
Vs Pacific Eagles
More was asked of the CRS boys and a dominant display was produced for all to see, taking them through to the final.
Won 4-0

Game 3
Vs BC Tigers
After some early pressure, the boys conceded a goal and knew they had to show there winning mentality if they wanted to defend their title. The boys all started to work together and push in the same direction as a team unit to dominate and win the game. However the winning margin should have been a bigger gap due to some poor finishing but the grit shown to come back from 1-0 has the coaches very pleased.
Won 2-1

West Vancouver picks 1 for 2011 Metro Team!

Breaking news!  As Keenan Bir has been selected to play for the West Vancouver U-15 Metro Team! In the past he has been plying his trade in the Gold division, making his trips to training/games all the way from Squamish which shows the BIG desire and appetite this pint sized pocket rocket has! We are all very proud Keenan and good luck for the winter with your new team!

MSA U-14 Gold CHAMPIONS!

The first week of May had the boys enter the MSA U-14 Gold tournament with a few new faces and no friendlies, new coach, and a new system, it was an interesting ride.

Game 1
Vs West Coast Panthers
The boys were getting a lot of touches on the ball and great possession but were not making any use of it in the final third, to the point it looked like the cross bar had a better chance of scoring. The Panthers managed to get themselves a corner and on the en suing play, they scored. The boys really felt this loss as it was the first time they had lost to the Panthers in 4 years.
Lost 1-0

Game 2
Vs Abbottsford United
After losing the day before, the boys knew they had to put on a performance to accumulate enough points to make the final. With the pressure on, the boys went about their business, again controlling the tempo and spreading the play. It started to feel like the previous game with no joy in the penalty box, until the first goal went in after a great combination between the right back and winger to put CRS. This put the boys at ease and the flood gates opened with one of the strikers walking away with a hat trick. The Center mids also put in a good display of offense and defense. All in all a great performance which oozed confidence!
Won 6-0

Game 3
Vs West Coast Panthers
After finishing game two, all eyes were on whom the boys would face in the final and they were all rooting for WC Panthers... revenge is a great motivation and they did not want to wait for future tournaments to avenge the 1-0 loss earlier. This time the boys were prepared, they had been to plenty of finals before and knew to be patient and it paid off and once again, the flood gates were opened with a commanding performance by the inevitable Champions.
Won 5-0

We'd also like to take the time to thank MSA for putting on a great tournament, it is most appreciated!

Surrey High Performance League picks 2!

For the upcoming 2011 winter season, the Surrey High Performance League (HPL) team has chosen to recruit our very own Eric de Graaf and Jeevin Kang!

Both players have been playing at the highest level for the past several years with Jeevin narrowly missing out on the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency program. This is a wonderful achievement due to their hard work and we hope to see them both on the big stage soon!

Vancouver Whitecaps latest signing!

It’s with great pride and big smiles that we announce the Vancouver Whitecaps have signed up our very own Matteojit Singh (Matteo Bordingnon) to their residency program.

We’ve watched this little talent grow over the past 5 years into a marvellous footballer and friend, but more importantly, he is one of the most respectful and considerate young men you will ever meet.

It goes to show that hard work, dedication, and a supporting family can help to make dreams come true.

We look forward to seeing you wear that Vancouver Whitecaps Jersey with pride and represent the fine City of Surrey!

South Burnaby Metro Club 28th Annual Youth Soccer Tournament

This weekend the Canadian Rocks will be entering the South Burnaby Metro Club 28th Annual Youth Soccer Tournament with a bit of a twist. As so many of our regular players are still playing with their winter teams in various cup competitions, we have come together with a few other clubs in a one off tournament.

The children have come together from Whalley Soccer Club, Surrey Youth, Surrey United, and Guildford United.
