2010 Miri Piri GN Soccer Tournament Final information!

Hi Team! Congratulations on making it to the final but the hardwork does not stop here. We must continue to push on. Here are the details:

Vs: TBA
When: Sunday 1st, August.
Where: Newton Athletic Park field 7, 128 Street & 74 Avenue. (Main upper grass field)
Kick-Off: 1:30pm

All players should be at the field for 12:45 pm, so we have time for a quick warm-up and team talk.

Catch of the Day!

Icelandic side Stjarnan are surely vying for their own spot on Catch of the Day after their hilarious fisherman-style skit. This has to be the best celebration ever in my opinion!

2010 Miri Piri GN Soccer Tournament schedule.

Hi Team! This weekend we shall be playing in the 2010 Miri Piri GN Soccer Tournament, in the U-13 Gold category. Here is the schedule for our first game:

Vs: BC Tigers
When: Friday 30th, July.
Where: Newton Athletic Park field 1, 128 Street & 74 Avenue. (Turf)
Kick-Off: 5:45pm

All players should be at the field for 5:00 pm, so we have time for a quick warm-up and team talk.

Following game details shall be provided at the end of the game by Coach Avtar.

Good luck Austin in San Diego!

All the Canadian Rocks would like to wish there team mate Austin Purewall all the very best while playing in the Copa Del Mar in San Diego, America with his Winter Metro A team. We hope the Surrey Revolution go all the way in becoming champions! All the very best of luck from the CRS Boys.

Summer signing poll result is in.

Hi Team! Last week we asked, Who is the biggest signing of the summer so far? and you voted for David Villa who joined Barcelona FC from Valencia.

This week we ask, Which team would you like to see play against the Whitecaps in pre-season? Vote to the left as usual!

BC Provincial players are back in the squad.

The Canadian Rocks are very excited to welcome back a couple of key players in Matteo Bordignon and Eric de Graaf who were chosen to represent the BC Provincial team in Winnipeg. They are also joined by Jeevin Kang who also represented BC and was also chosen to play in the All Star game with Eric, congratulations for all your perseverance and determination to make it so far as we are ever so proud of you.

We would also like to welcome Riley Gallant who has played with many of the boys for a number of years now.

Topsy turvy Canadian Rocks tournament ends in disappointment.

This weekend the boys were playing in there own Canadian Rocks Tournament, at U-13 Gold level.

Vs West Coast Panthers
Captains =
Won 6-3.

Vs BC Tigers
Captains =
Lost 1-0.

Unfortunately the boys did not do enough to play in the final due to the 1-0 loss to BC Tigers, as this enabled them to tie with the CRS boys on 9 points and in so doing, they were through due to section 4, rule 7a which is that when a team is tied, they will judge on the outcome of a head to head match.

This is why we always remind you to play at 110% and never leave decisions to a referee or tournament rules. Enjoy your Sunday.

CRS Tournament this Saturday!!!

Hi Team! this weekend we shall be playing in our very own CRS Tournament in the U-13 Gold category. Here is the schedule for our first game:

When: Saturday 24th, July.
Where: Newton Athletic Park field 8 128 Street & 74 Avenue.
Kick-Off: 12:15pm

All players should be at the field for 11:30am, so we have time for a quick warm-up and team talk.

Following game details shall be provided at the end of the game by Coach Avtar.

England's poor performance poll results!

Hi Team! We asked "Why did England lose against Germany and ruin Coach Stevens Sunday?", and you all voted poor refereeing was to blame for England's loss :(

Coach Steven has had some time to think and believes England just did not deserve to go through. At the end of the day we didn't really see any of the England players shine and they all seemed to be playing at 75%, and as I always say, if you play at 75% you win nothing. Everyone needs to be playing at 100% or above to be successful.

Hi Team! Well played today and going undefeated, however it was not enough to make the finals on Sunday. Will update the blog soon with game details from the tournament.

Midseason team BBQ

The CRS Family decided to have a team midseason team BBQ, and with the World Cup taking place this year we decided to have our own CRS World Cup on the FIFA10.

First all the players had to get together to discuss the rules of this knockout tournament played on the PlayStation 3:

Then the Dad’s shouted the team to get some BBQ:

The boys then continued with the tournament until it came down to the final between Austin (Brazil) Vs Gavin (France). It was a fantastic tournament where Gavin Won the final against Austin 1-0.

Best game of the tournament had to go to Harman Sull Vs Arjun Girn where Harman was winning 2-1 and Arjun came back to win 3-2 scoring in the 90th minute to make it to the semi final.

It was a great BBQ and an awesome time. Thank you all!
