Best soccer advert ever! Write the Future... by Nike.
Hi Team! So as you know I love soccer, and it's one of the biggest things I miss about England besides family, and fish & chips. The adverts for soccer in England and across Europe are amazing and this Nike advert for this years World Cup is probably the best one I have ever seen. Nike spent a lot of money on this one so enjoy!

KDS U-13 Gold Tournament Champions!
This long weekend the team played in the KDS Vancouver Tournament. We had won the competition last year and came back to defend our title.
Vs Eagles 1
Captains = Arjun Girn & Karn Singh.
We had played the Eagles in the MSA Tournament and the players felt they should never have given away a goal in the 3-1 win. With a point to prove in keeping a clean sheet, the team went to business from the get go. A quick one-two punch in the opening 10 minutes saw the Rocks take a 2-0 lead into the break. In the second half the Rocks imposed themselves further with the passing game and rounded off the match with a wonderful strike from the central defender, he read the oppositions pass to intercept the play, looked up to notice the keeper of his line and then produced a mouth watering shot to lob the keeper from 35-40 yards.
Won 4-0.
Vs Dasmesh Utd
Captains = Harman Gatora & Harman Sull.
Playing Dasmesh Utd in the semi finals became a family affair as one of the team’s nephew/cousin was playing on the opposing team. They had previously beaten Abbotsford United 5-0 the day before and were coming into the game on a high as a newly formed team. With the Rocks confidence being high from there previous victory, they continued where they left off the previous day with pass & move football and ended the half 3-0 up.
In the second half, the team felt they could finish the game early and struck two goals in quick succession. A third was then quickly added to this performance of discipline and communication. As mentioned before, this Dasmesh Utd team was newly formed and we expect them to be much stronger next time around as they have very good players who just need a little time to gel.
Won 6-0.
Vs Akal FC (formarly know as Sikh Temple FC)
Captains = Gurtej Hehar & Joban Rai
Playing Akal FC is always a special occasion as both teams enjoy a healthy competition with each other. They have a very talented squad of Metro players so it’s always a great measuring stick to play against them. Akal took the lead in the first 15 minutes, however the CRS Boys did not drop there heads, they persevered with the game plan to level the score 1-1. But before the first half came to a close, Akal took a 2-1 lead with a great show of speed.
In the second half CRS knew they had the ability to win, they just needed to pull one goal back. As the game became more physical and time was running out a CRS player made a foul and an Akal player lashed out, and a red card was produced by the referee. With CRS having the man advantage, they applied the screws until they levelled the game 2-2 in the last 30 seconds with some extraordinary passing which pushed the defence into there own 6 yard box.
As the final whistle blew, the game tied, fate rested with a penalty shootout. With both teams missing one a piece, the CRS keeper made a fantastic save to take home the gold. Well done to both teams for playing some great soccer!
Won 2-2 (6-5 on penalties).

Friendly against the Whitecaps FC U-12 team
Captains = Gavin Pannu & Harman Sull.
Today was a proud moment for the Canadian Rocks organization, as this was the first time a team from the club had been invited to play against the Whitecaps. The game started in a lethargic mood much like the warm weather, with a lot of respect shown by the CRS players towards their smaller counterparts, so much so that the Whitecaps started to impose themselves on the game. Gradually the Whitecaps took the lead and it was up to the CRS Boys to show there nerve. Before the first half came to a close, a wonderful display of pass and move football was shown by the CRS team before a venomous left footed strike was dispatched into the top right corner which forced a fantastic save from the keeper.
At half time the boys felt they had more to offer and went about there business where they had left off in the first half. Within 5 minutes CRS had levelled the game from a corner kick. With the momentum firmly with CRS they then took the lead in open play. The younger Whitecaps then struck back to tie the game and then with 10 minutes to go they took the lead. There were wasted opportunities for both sides; nevertheless a fantastic game of soccer was on display. So fantastic that only 3 fouls were called throughout the whole game, as mentioned before, a little too much respect was shown by the older CRS players.
Lost 3-2.

BC Provincial Vs Surrey Revolution
Last Friday, a few of the team went to support Matteo and Eric as they played for the BC Provincial team against a few friends who also play for the Surrey Revolution. It was an exciting game where the Surrey Revolution had surprised a few spectators with an excellent first half performance and a 2-0 lead. They showed a great desire to take the game to the Provincial team.
In the second half it was much of the same with both teams battling for possession in the center of the park, however the BC team started to turn the screws and with each period of controlled possession, they started to dictate the game a little more then the Revolution. The Revolution represented the city of Surrey very well and showed there is a wealth of talent in the region! Both Eric and Matteo played fantastically well and we wish Matteo a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained towards the end of the match.
BC Provincial Won 4-2.

MSA Abbotsford U-14 Silver Tournament Champions!
This past weekend we were invited to compete at the MSA Tournament in Abbotsford, as they did not have a U-13 category they asked if we would like to move up into U-14 Silver. Not wanting to turn down a challenge, we decided to give it a go and treat it as a friendly, as the team has not played together in some time and we added a few new faces to the squad.
Vs Abbotsford United.
Captains = Joban Rai & Rajan Sangha.
The Tournament started off well against Abbotsford United, with the boys putting the peddle to the metal from the moment the Ref blew his whistle. With the Abbotsford defence struggling to get the ball outside there own half and the CRS boys playing their pass and move style, it was only a matter of time for the goal to come. A scramble in the penalty box caused an Abbotsford player to panic and foul the striker inside the box. Once the Ref had called the penalty, the CRS defender stepped up to tuck it away in the bottom corner and the momentum stayed with the CRS team. A well polished performance was put on show, with a disciplined defence pushing forward to support the attack.
Won 6-0.
Vs. Pacific Eagles.
Captains = Gurtej Hehar & Rajan Sangha.
After the controlled performance against Abbotsford United, the CRS boys were already being touted as Champions before kick-off; however the Pacific Eagles were not going to let CRS have it there own way. They had already watched CRS play against Abbotsford and came at us from the first whistle. The CRS boys knew they had to take control and that’s just what they did. The Eagles had decided to go with a Kick & Run style of play, however what they did not know was that the CRS boys were prepared. Every time the ball went up in the air, a CRS player was on hand to bring the ball back down to the ground and the pass and move style was just too much for the Eagles to handle, however the ball just wouldn't go into the back of the net. However a panicked Eagles defender miss judged a wonderful cross to put the ball past his own keeper.
At half time with a goal to the good, the boys felt they could really take the game to the eagles and from the get go they went at them. However the Eagles had come up with a new game plan, instead of playing soccer, they decided to try and intimidate the CRS boys with lunging challenges and flying elbows. The Ref seemed to miss most of the calls; however he came good when the CRS attacking midfielder burst through the left channel and into the box only to be man handled by something seen in the WWE. With the Penalty awarded, there was no fear this ball was going into the back of the net. A fantastic calm finish was provided by the young man who had not missed a penalty in 3 years. As the Eagles continued to play dirty, CRS continued to show them how the beautiful game is played and it showed when the 3rd was scored. A wonderful cross played in from the left was hit fantastically by a left footed player with his right foot into the back of the net. The Eagles knew the game was over and a lucky bouncing ball helped them pull a goal back. Hopefully they learnt it is always better to play the beautiful game then try wrestling with players when losing.
Won 3-1.
Vs Canadian Rocks Team #1
Captains = Harman Ghatora & Manjit Bassi.
The Final was a special occasion for the Canadian Rocks organization. To see two teams meet in the final from the same club was very special. Our boys knew they had a trophy in the bag, but it was up to them which color it would be. The game began as a tight affair, with either team giving away nothing. As the game progressed our boys started to apply the pressure and as the screws turned the goals came. At half time the boys were up by 2 goals and in the second half they did not let up and continued to press by adding another two to round off the half.
